Choose well...

I so enjoy watching adventure movies like 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'
- In their story is a treasure of untold wealth
That has a curse on it
- to have it in the person's possession 
means sure death...

and the choice always presented
Choose the treasure
and die trying to keep it
or live
without the treasure...

Yesterday I heard a similar situation
in real life.

A rich young man
Came to Jesus and asked Him,
'What must I do to live forever?'

Jesus asked him a few questions
and then gave a final instruction....

"Go, sell everything you have
and give to the poor,
and you will have treasure in Heaven.
Then come, 
follow me."    Mark 10:17-27

Instructions for LIFE.

If you cling to the 
treasure....

You will lose LIFE.

If you release the treasure
and follow Jesus....
Life.... forever.

And today.
Many are asking,
"How do I stay
alive?"
(or help keep others alive?)
and I am finding
my choice is to release
my grip on my treasure
here on earth..

For being ALIVE in this time
will not be just isolating
but it will be
- Being generous
with little
- Choosing to help
at risk to self
- Shining
in weakness and lack.

For that is the way
of the Cross.

That is Jesus' way....
Matthew 16:²⁴ Then Jesus told his disciples, 
“If anyone would come after me,
let him deny himself
and take up his cross and follow me. 
²⁵ For whoever would save his life
will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 
²⁶ For what will it profit a man
if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?
Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

Oh Lord,
You are here
in the midst
of this defining time

When I must Choose

and it is actually 
more difficult
than I thought it would be....

and yet.
there is really
no other choice but....

I choose 
You
