This morning I was 'caught' by the word
Godliness.
In 1Tim 4:8 - The word means - 'well done worship' - piety.
Paul in his first letter to Timothy
tells him that there is some profit to physical training
(value for 'now')
but Godliness 'training' has value for now and the eternal future.
See 1Tim 4:7-8
He finishes that thought with the reminder to
'watch your life and doctrine closely - persevere
Resulting in saving self and hearers....' 4:15-16
Paul speaks about what Godliness isn't...
- isn't a means to financial gain 6:5
- without power 2Tim 3:2-9
and what it is:
- Paul's - teaching, life, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance 2Tim 3:10-11
Which results in:
- Contentment with 'just enough' and dodging the traps of affluence 1 Tim 6:6-10
- Persecution 2Tim 3:12
Worship of God done well....
Godliness
- Contentment
- Persecution
Great Gain.
Comes at a cost.
Hmm...
Being in Awe of my Creator
In Love with Him and wanting His Life for me...
So much that
My life reflects His values
and receives His power to live that way...
O, Lord Jesus.
I desire to
Worship You well.
That it would change me
and bring contentment to my soul.
Yeah.
I count the cost...
I Worship
You.
