This morning while I was reading I noticed a strange 'side note'.
The context....
- Pharaoh's son is dead.
- The angel of death has killed
all who do not have the blood of the lamb over their doors.
- Pharaoh summons Moses and Aaron
to tell them to get the Israelites out of Egypt (finally!)
And the last thing he says to them before they go is;
"Bless me"
see Exodus 12:29-32
Whoa.
What?
- This evil, megalomaniac man
who demanded to be worshipped as a God...
- This man who let his country be wrecked and ravaged
before even considering that he might let the nation he had enslaved go.....
- This man who has just lost the continuation of His Throne...
to an edict and command from Moses....
Bless me.....?
In that moment
- Fear of God
and of those who were His instruments....
- Elevation of his estimation of this God of Israel
Suddenly in this moment of stark reality
God had his full attention....
Wow.
Oh, It didn't last long....
Several days later he rallied the army
and chased Moses and the nation of slaves
to bring them back....
But in that moment.....
Pharaoh saw and recognized
the Awesomeness
of God
Hmm...
It reminded me of Paul's 'picture' of
'Every knee bowing
at the very name of Jesus...
and every tongue confessing
He is Lord'
Phil 2:10-11
Lord,
Every Knee
Every Tongue
no matter who.
You are Awesome.
and even Pharaoh wanted
to be blessed by Your servant Moses.
And
I serve You
and
You inhabit me.
Wow.
