This morning I am chewing on
the contrasting pictures Jesus 'paints'
of the Kingdom of God....
Luke in chapter 13 records a
teaching moment where Jesus reaches out
and heals a women bound by a spirit....
and then He teaches about the Kingdom....
- It starts small but grows really big
and becomes the
centerpiece vs
19
- It starts small and inconspicuous
but then it permeates and 'flavours'
everything it touches vs
21
Yup.... that's straightforward...
But then Jesus goes on to talk about
how few will find this Kingdom
That it's gate is narrow and
easily missed vs
24
Indeed many who thought they were 'in'
and in Chapter 14 He tells a story of a
banquet
that many were invited to
but few responded.... vs
15-24
The Kingdom becomes big and obvious....
and .... few find it.....
Many are invited....
Indeed the whole world is infused with the scent of it..
Yet...
Few respond....
and those who miss it
are surprised they don't 'get in'....
Wow.
That's a big deal
That's not just 'bla bla bla'....
That's something I need to
take note of....
Lord Jesus,
Your Kingdom
growing, flourishing, permeating my world
Yet You remind me
I can be distracted
I can miss it
I sometimes look for life in other places
than Your Kingdom....
Thank You for Your warning
to push on, don't give up....
and
keep You in view.
Yeah.
