Act of God....?

This morning I was thinking about 
how my society loves to know
WHY....   

and
How God fits into the equation   

WHY did the Ft Mac fire happen....
Was God punishing some people?
I heard people say the words
'Act of God' more than once...   

Part of my brain goes down that road  
and 
Part of my brain reminds me that  
STUFF happens 
and it could have happened on Vancouver Island 
and then would the shoe be on the other foot... 

And is this part of the world  
any better than those who live in Ft Mac....? 

Oh we would like to think so... 
Might even come up with some reasons for that attitude...
but...

...NOT.

What struck me this morning
was
Job and his friends.....

Bad stuff happened...
"Must be Your Fault Job....... :(

And that didn't go down well with Job.
Of course....
He knew he didn't do what his 'friends' deduced...
ref Job 26:1-4

Bad stuff happened
He didn't know why....
God is Good....
So...
He must be bad.....?

And he asked God

and
didn't get any answers....

So the deduction....

God must be a big angry man
with a stick
to punish you.....

even when you didn't do anything?...

Wow....

This morning I was reminded
of the truth.

That WITHOUT God's keeping presence
WITHOUT God holding back evil
WITHOUT God
Bad stuff happens....

Jesus said that,
'He did not come into the world
to condemn the world
but to save the world....
Whoever does not believe in Him
stands condemned already....'
ref Jn 3:17,18

Oh Lord,
How small my sight is
How unknowing I am
When I don't understand
I try to make the universe
'work' with easy answers

I know You are good
and I know that when stuff happens
there IS stuff happening in the Spiritual realm

But I rest in not having to Figure that out.

You came to save men
You came to set captives free
You came to rescue those in burning cities.....
