Good day, Black Creek Church Family,
It's April, and is the season of remembrance of Jesus' death and resurrection, often called Lent. 40 days before Good Friday.
Lent is a time of reflection. Often omitting various aspects from our lives as a way of 'fasting' and identifying in a small way with the sacrificial offering of Jesus for our rescue from sin and death.
Lent is often seen as a way of preparing our hearts, minds, and spirits to be more fully appreciative of the work of God on our behalf.
A few years ago, while at my 'other job,' I was asked why the day Jesus died was called Good Friday.
I remember asking the same thing as a child.
Good Friday service always seemed agonizing to me, the awful cost paid for the price of sin and death. Somehow, calling it Good seemed so wrong.
I heard various explanations, but I think the revelation that really cemented my understanding of the name for the day was;
Hebrews 12:2 .
...Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith,
who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross,
despising the shame,
and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
The Joy.
for Me, and you, and every other man, woman, boy and girl, homeless, murderer, broken, despised, or other person with problems in this world.....
The Joy.
Sunday, April 13th - India Ministry Fundraiser. Come for Lunch and help Sonu and Lindsay Kumar with airfare to Canada this summer.
We have been invited to share Good Friday Service with some of the churches of the Comox Valley. at NorthGate Church in Courtenay for the 9 or 11 am services.
I am looking forward to seeing you there!
Pray into these weeks before Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday for those in your circle who do not know Him. To open their hearts and lives to receive His gift of life this season.... and especially those who come to the Easter Sunday Musical.
Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit
made a plan, and He came
to make me alive again.
with expectation of Joy.
What a plan.
What a Saviour.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him
should not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world
to condemn the world,
but in order that
the world might be saved through him.
Blessings as you meditate on
His JOY
over you.
and what He did
so He could spend the rest of eternity with you.
