Did you ever wonder about Hezekiah's feeling
happy that destruction of his country would
be held off until after his death.....?
ref Is 39:5-8
I mean it's great that it wouldn't happen
while he was around.....
but the prophecy said that his own son's would be
castrated and taken away to Babylon... :(
That's not exactly what I call 'good news'.... :P
Some say that it was a sin for Hezekiah to show off the
treasures of Israel... it was pride...
And the judgement on the land was God's 'merciful' judgement
because it didn't actually affect him....
Hmm... I suppose....
Pure supposition on my part.....
but I find it interesting
that one of Israel's best Kings
one of the most Godly Kings....
.....when he begged for his life
to be healed
and he was..... ref Is 38:1-7
That there seemed to be a change..
an attitude of pride...
'ME first'.
and that reminds me
that when God shows his blessings
an favour on me
there is a significant risk of that
'going to my head'....
Nothing wrong with healing from God
Nothing wrong with asking...
everything wrong with....
Yeah whooo
'Now I am God's favorite...'
Hmmm....
Lord Jesus
Thank You for the reminder
that You ARE for me
but that when You
Bless me,
I need to carry that well...
I choose to live with a thankful heart
not a boastful heart.....
Lord Jesus,
Thank You that You will
teach me how to do that
well.
even today...
Yeah.
