Careful.... it's dark outside...

A friend from India who was a student with me at Bible School 
commented on John 13:30....    

"As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out.  
And it was night."           

My friend loved the way that John 'dramatized' or 'coloured'  
his record of Jesus' life 
with words like 
Light and Dark....     
Day and Night, 
Seeing and Blindness.....          

...And it was night.....

It was Dark 
and the deeds of Darkness 
were upon them....    

And Judas was the instrument...
unknowing that the impact of his deed....
That would for the rest of earthly history
always connect his name as the one
who carried out the most
heinous betrayal....

and Jesus knew
and had 'communion' with him
before he went out
into the night.....

....Jesus is the Light.....

Joh 1:9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.

Joh 3:19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world,
but men loved darkness instead of light
because their deeds were evil.

Joh 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said,
"I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life."

Joh 9:5 While I am in the world,
I am the light of the world."

Joh 11:9 Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight?
A man who walks by day will not stumble, for he sees by this world’s light.
10 It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he has no light."

Joh 12:46 I (Jesus) have come into the world as a light,
so that no-one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

Lord,
Thank You for helping me 'see'
and know...
You had John use terms that help me
understand the Kingdom of Light
and Darkness

Thank You Holy Spirit
for opening my mind
to so that I need not stay in the
dark...
