Don't have what it takes?

Last night went to a 'Conquer' meeting. (Addiction breaking group)  

One of the things that the teaching emphasised  
was that true change cannot come from
Trying harder.      
...trying to 'look good'....   
But that true change comes from 
Choosing to:
- Speak / seek truth
- Be Accountable in Community
- Receive from God His character, strength, wisdom
by His Spirit.

This morning I read about a man
Whom God put in charge of a large difficult diverse group of people
and God asked him,
"What would you like from me?"
The man didn't ask for
Wealth
Power
Long Life
but
he came as a little child and told God
he didn't have what it took
to do the job.
He wanted God
to teach him
to reveal to him
to go before and come after

and God did.

That man who was so 'lacking'
was Solomon.

I read about it in 1 Kings 3:5-13

Lord,
I am reminded that
'Trying' to be better....
...even looking more like You
is missing something...
is still my effort....

Lord, I release control
I choose to receive from You
what You promised.
Your Spirit
to live inside
to change me
to empower me
to 'rebirth me'
a new creation.
as a little child...

Yes.

Thank You Lord Jesus
for coming to make this possible.

Yeah.
