Extra insurance?

I was wondering why Rachel stole her father's gods when she was running away from him. She had to lie and hide them from him when he came searching.   Genesis 31:25-35   Later when they left all these 'gods' behind... 'the terror of God fell on the towns all around them so that no one pursued them'. Genesis 35:5

Household gods were objects that were supposed to protect.  Did Rachel need a little more 'insurance' while running away from her father?

What is it that I hold as extra 'insurance' to 'protect' me?
