This morning I was reminded of a comment
a friend made years ago about
Giving
Moses had made a request for free will offerings of:
- thread
- wool
- linen
- porpoise skins
- acacia wood
- gold
- gems
- silver
- brass
and other numerous 'not carried in the desert when you are making a run for it' items...
it apparently didn't take long and people brought what they needed
and More!
and the workers told Moses to put a stop to the people bringing more stuff....
see Exodus 36:4-7
My friend's comment....
'Wouldn't it have been too bad
to have been a person at that time
who had something to give
and waffled,
delayed,
held back for a bit.....
and then it was too late.
The quota was full
the need was supplied
there was no more opportunity to have their part in the
Tabernacle. The place where God dwelled for around 400 years...
and they 'blew it'
because they weren't quite sure
if they wanted to give up their
'porpoise' skin?.... or whatever...?'
Paul in 2Cor 9:6-11 teaches the Kingdom principle
of how to give...
and that there will be fruit....
sowing and reaping..
Give generously
be supplied generously..
Give cheerfully
live cheerfully...
Lord,
I am sure You have some amazing 'projects' happening
and You invite me to be involved
You invite me to risk losing what I have
to be involved in something much bigger than I could ever imagine...
giving for an opportunity for someone to
live in You... a place where You Live
I can give towards..
A tabernacle
So cool.
Thank You for the opportunity
today.
