Hey, that's not nice.... That's Awe full...
This morning I was jolted
by a statement of Jesus.
Somehow growing up
I was told the Flavour of Jesus
was 'meek and mild'.....
I haven't seen that in Scripture much... Hmm...
After Jesus arrived at a man's home for lunch
- He didn't wash up
- He challenged the host on his values....
- He said:
Woe to you Leaders of the people....
Woe to you Teachers of the Law
(Catch the rest of His words in Luke 11:37-54)
Jesus - not so meek and mild
actually rather challenging... :(
Jesus - redefining what a healthy relationship looks like
- with each other....
Stop fearing man
- with God
.....Start Fearing God.
For He has the power to take your mortal life
and cast you into hell
(I read it in Luke 12:1-12)
Whoa.... Stop the bus!
That's not nice!
I thought I was supposed to Love God.
and how did Hell become part of this conversation!?...
Yes, I know God is sovereign
that He will judge men and women
for what they have done....
But I was just a bit surprised to have Jesus
lay it all out like that.
- Fear of man is a snare
- Fear of God - knowing He is judge
is a reality check.
Lord
The reality that You are my
Savior
One who Loves me
One who Cares
as well as
my Judge
who is Perfect
and Awesome
the One who decides how many more days I will live
and when and how I will die...
O God
I am small
I see You through my own narrow perspective
Thank You for reminding me
You are
Fearful
and
Loving.
You count
the days I have left on this earth
and
the hairs on my head.
Wow.
I am filled with
Awe....
