New Name?

This morning I read Jesus' words in his prayer 
As He spoke to His Father 
He said, "I have made You known  
by Your Name...."     
ref Jn 17:6, 26    

What name?      

They already knew God by His  
Old Testament names....   

What did Jesus make known to them 
that was  
different?       

....My opinion....    
but the context and content of this prayer and
Jesus' teaching
is that
that God, Adonai, Jehovah
giver of life and justice
The one who is Master and
Lord

is

Father
Abba
and that He exists
in Relationship
with Jesus
....Father and Son

and
that the focus of
all that He is
and cares for
is to rescue people
to bring them back
into relationship with Himself

THIS was new
This was not the God they knew.

Jesus,
You reveal
Father

You show what
Grace and Mercy
look like in
Lord and Master

Out of Your mouth You declared
"For God so Loved the world....."
ref Jn 3:16

This One who is to be feared
will also be the
One
I can trust,
love,
be safe with...

Thank You for coming
to show me
...Abba.
