Not the what... but the why....

I have some friends
who love Jesus.....
and are doing life more and more the Old Testament way....
.....Pleasing God with doing things of the Law....
Not for salvation..
but to Please Him....    

Hmmm....

read this this morning...    

Titus 2:1 Remind the people
to be subject to rulers and authorities,
to be obedient,
to be ready to do whatever is good, 
2 to slander no-one,
to be peaceable
and considerate,
and to show true humility towards all men. 
3 At one time we too were foolish,  
disobedient, deceived and enslaved
by all kinds of passions and pleasures.
We lived in malice and envy,
being hated and hating one another.
4 But when the kindness and love
of God our Saviour appeared,
5 he saved us,
not because of righteous things we had done,
but because of his mercy.
He saved us through the washing of rebirth
and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
6 whom he poured out on us generously
through Jesus Christ our Saviour,

I get it.
There is a tension....
Living a righteous life
not to BE saved
but BECAUSE I AM saved.....

Pleasing my Lord....
walking in His reflection
being His ambassador to those who don't know Him....
Yet....
Not doing it because the law says to...
This Old Covenant.... to make me 'good enough'
but because this new way of the Spirit
liberates me to....

Oh Lord,
How DO I live to please you?
give me guidance to understand
what is important
and what is just different taste
style..
....'optional'

Thank You for teaching me
each day...
Instructing me
what to say
how to live
Listening to You each moment

that I might be Your fragrance

Thank You Jesus.
