This morning I was interested how
two people in the same situation
experience something very different.
In the events of Christ's arrest Peter follows...
And so does another disciple.
Peter gets 'caught',
the other seems to operate without risk.
Peter denies Christ to 'save himself'
The other disciple who is seen with Jesus and Peter
appears to be immune.
See John 18:15-18, 25-27
Peter was questioned
the other not?
Satan had asked (and received permission apparently)
to 'sift' Peter Lk 22: 31-32
the other.... not?
Fair,
Not Fair?
Same situation
2 differant outcomes
Peter, wishing, crying,
...couldn't he have 'made it'?
followed through?
been true?
One 'picked on'
the other seemingly not.
Yet I know that isn't the real issue.
What really matters is
what do I do
when the 'chips are down'
When it looks like a bad idea to be
one of His....
Hmm.
Oh Lord,
You know my heart.
and the times I have failed to be
identified as one of Yours.
...faded into the shadows
..kept my head down.
As I step into the day
I lean into You...
...to be my strength.
for I know my own is
little.
and my default can surprisingly become
self.
I ask and seek
for You
to train
and teach me.
To hear Your words
in those situations.
That I would be Your vessel
No matter
what.
Yes.
that is my desire.
