This morning I was curious about something....
What is the reason that so much of the
'stuff' in the tabernacle was made of
Gold?
Hmm....
Probably a few reasons....
- looks pretty
- it's valuable - a good way to honour God's presence
- Soft and easy to make into the things used there
but I noticed that Silver and Bronze
was also used in things that were part of the 'tent' too....
but
the things inside
were primarily of
Gold...
Hmm....
Exodus 37:6 He made the atonement cover of
pure gold
—two and a half cubits long
and a cubit and a half wide.
So I asked...
"What's that about God?"
"I know these things are symbols of things in the heavenlies....
So.... why Gold?"
This is what came to my mind immediately....
- Gold has no 'corruption' in it
it does not corrode.
Ever.
Hmmm....
the things in the presence of God
have no 'decay'
that is a part of the curse...
God's presence...
No corruption...
Reminds me of another scripture....
1Cor 3:11 For no-one can lay any foundation
other than the one already laid,
which is Jesus Christ.
12 If any man builds on this foundation using
gold,
silver,
costly stones,
wood, hay or straw,
13 his work will be shown for what it is,
because the Day will bring it to light.
It will be revealed with fire,
and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work.
14 If what he has built survives,
he will receive his reward.
15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss;
he himself will be saved,
but only as one escaping through the flames.
16 Don’t you know that
you yourselves
are God’s temple
and that God’s Spirit lives in you?
Wow.
I am that 'tabernacle'
and is there gold in there?
or things that rust
and decay....?
Hmmm...
Lord Jesus,
Details like
'why Gold?'
Thanks for the reminder
that it DOES
make a difference how I live
how I build...
it does make a difference
how they built the Ark of the covenant
and all those other things
today
I choose
to hear
and build as You call me to....
with Gold....
:)
Thank You,
PJ
