This morning I was reading Zechariah's words
that were fulfilled 500 years later!
I find that time scale difficult to fathom...
If someone said something in the 1500's would I make the
connection of something that happened now?
Zec 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion!
Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you,
righteous and having salvation,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
and
Zec 12:10 "And I will pour out on the house of David
and the inhabitants of Jerusalem
a spirit of grace and supplication.
They will look on me,
the one they have pierced,
and they will mourn for him
as one mourns for an only child,
and grieve bitterly for him
as one grieves for a firstborn son.
First one - Palm Sunday....
Yeay Messiah!
Second one - after the crucifixion
When Peter preaches to them
that they have Killed the Messiah....
The one they have been waiting for
they have killed.....
Messiah.
Saviour
Killed by their own hands....
Wow.
And Yet God pours out a Spirit
of Grace
and
Supplication..... (request for mercy)
A promise fulfilled as Peter speaks to them
to repent and receive...
Acts 2:36 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this:
God has made this Jesus,
whom you crucified,
both Lord and Christ."
37 When the people heard this,
they were cut to the heart
and said to Peter and the other apostles,
"Brothers, what shall we do?"
38 Peter replied,
"Repent and be baptised,
every one of you,
in the name of Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 The promise is for you and your children
and for all who are far off
—for all whom the Lord our God will call."
What Wonder.....
What an amazing plan...
Who would have thought
They would kill the saviour
and yet God had provision made
for that to spread His Spirit to All men...
Lord,
I stand in wonder
at this plan to save Your chosen people, Israel
that as they not only rejected You
and Killed You
You poured out Your Spirit of
grace and supplication...
500 years after you announced it.
Wow.
amazing.
Thank You
