This morning I was reminded of Consequences
of choosing ways outside of God's ways (sin).
Proverbs 5 reminded me that life has certain
disciplines
and to forgo them
is to live in peril.
11 At the end of your life you will groan,
when your flesh and body are spent.
12 You will say, "How I hated discipline!
How my heart spurned correction!
22 The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him;
the cords of his sin hold him fast.
23 He will die for lack of discipline,
led astray by his own great folly.
and then I read about the Train Wreck of King David's life
after the 'Bathsheba Incident'
2Sam 13-18 tell of the incredible destruction of not only
David's life and reign, but the
- rape of his daughter,
- murder of his son
and countless hundreds if not thousands
killed in the civil war....
ALL because of seemingly irresistible urge....
when he was supposed to be with his army somewhere else....
Oh Lord,
You have opened my eyes again
to the cost of sin
The cost of disregarding Your Ways
I don't want that for me or my family.
I choose to listen
to be taught
to hear Your voice
in scripture
in my conscience
in my community of faith.
to walk this out well.
I live in Your protection
over my mind and heart.
- a way out
when temptation comes.
Yes.
Thank You.
