There is a pattern in the dialogue between Satan and Eve in the garden.  Genesis 3:1-6
"You will not die...."   (there is no danger) - False
"You will be like God knowing good and evil...." (great gain) - Truth - incomplete

The trickiness of my enemy is that he minimizes the risk and maximizes the benefit.... to play to my desire to be God of my circumstances

And God and His word quickly look untrustworthy because they 'don't want me to benefit'....

O Lord, You teach me my enemy's strategy
Wake me up - rescue me...
