A reminder from the Lord
to me this morning....
Authority and position often =
power
and that comes with the liability
of the 'flesh nature' that says,
"I did it"
instead of
"God did it,,,, I as His servant
am humbly blessed to be used in this way."
2Chron 26:15 In Jerusalem he (King Uzziah)
made machines designed by skilful men
for use on the towers and on the corner defences
to shoot arrows and hurl large stones.
His fame spread far and wide,
for he was greatly helped
until he became powerful.
16 But after Uzziah became powerful,
his pride led to his downfall.
He was unfaithful to the LORD his God,
and entered the temple of the LORD
to burn incense on the altar of incense.
I am reminded that is not becoming powerful
that was Uzziah's downfall....
it was how he handled it.....
the "I did it." syndrome...
Such an amazing amount of Life written
about him in 2 verses....
but actually was a journey of years....
Complements and congratulations...
meant to build up...
meant to encourage...
but at some point shifted....
to be received as:
"I'm amazing"
and that shifting to
"I did that"
then,
"I deserve that"
Wow.
Lord,
You open my eyes
to the tendency of my heart
to shift ever so subtly
I choose again
to reflect Your Glory
and praise
back to You...
instead of absorbing it
into myself..
You are not only my master
but my
source for all things
and the one
who is the reason for
my victory
in every area.
Thank You Lord
I praise You
for all You bless me with
