This morning I was interested in the story of the woman Michal
- Daughter of Saul
- Used as a Pawn by her father Saul to get the one she loved killed.... David.
- Was 'Paid for' by the foreskins of dead enemies...; uuulg :P 1Sam 18:20-27
- Lied for David to give him time to escape
- Told her Father David tried to kill her 1Sam 19:11-17
- She was given to another man
- After David assumed the throne she was removed from that 'marriage'
and reunited with David. 2Sam 3:13-16
- After she mocked David for dancing before God
she either continued to be barren
or David her husband had no sexual contact with her
to the day of her death. 2Sam 6:16-23
And that's it.
That's all we hear about this woman who was wife of the famous King David.
As story of love, intrigue, use and abuse, and unfulfillment.
....a pretty sad story.
....it might have ended differently.
Michal could have chosen differently.
Not easy, not nice or tidy....
but she could have stepped up to her situation
as a woman who was broken and abused
and trusted God to care for her....
in the middle of the mess.
but I suspect
She was pretty angry with this God who 'didn't care for her well'....
and I understand that....
BUT....
The story of Joseph has interesting parallels to this one....
but it ends quite differently.
even though Joseph could have 'legitimately' felt the same
he chose the attitude to cling to God IN the mess
instead of blaming God
For the mess.
Lord Jesus, I know that You love me
and I know that I live in a world of sin and twistedness.
and that WILL impact me....
and I know
Your life in me is seen most clearly
when I continue to Chose You
in that place....
no matter what.
Thank You for keeping me
'stayed on You'...
Yesterday
and
Today
and
Tomorrow.
Yeah.
