This morning I was reading again
the temptation of Jesus in the desert.
- 40 day fast
- alone
- not sure what he did for water or shelter
- physically very weak I am sure
and when it was all over....
Lk 4:13 When the devil
had finished all this tempting,
he left him
until an opportune time.
Hmmm
I was thinking about that.
Satan didn't show up until the end of the fast
and then left Him
until
an opportune time....
In other words
the devil waited
until He was weak
until He had His guard down
until He was in a compromising situation....
Wow. the tactics
of the enemy.
When I am weak
Watch out....
or maybe
When I FEEL strong
watch out....
because he is waiting
for me to be
- Vulnerable....
- Unaware...
- Self absorbed...
So...
the 'antidote'?
What do I do for protection?...
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him (Jesus)
because he cares for you.
8 Be self-controlled and alert.
Your enemy the devil prowls around
like a roaring lion
looking for someone to devour.
9 Resist him,
standing firm in the faith,
because you know that your brothers throughout the world
are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10 And the God of all grace,
who called you to his eternal glory in Christ,
after you have suffered a little while,
will himself restore you
and make you strong,
firm
and steadfast.
Oh Lord Jesus,
Thank You for not only teaching me
but demonstrating
how to resist my enemy.
- I cast my anxiety on You
- I resist and stay alert
- I choose Faith in You
- I trust You will restore me
Thank You.
