This morning I was reading Acts
Paul meets with the church leaders in Ephesus
his last time....
He says some 'last time' things.
Things he wants them to remember...
Acts 20:29 I know that after I leave,
savage wolves will come in among you
and will not spare the flock.
30 Even from your own number
men will arise
and
distort the truth
in order to draw away disciples after them.
31 So be on your guard!
Remember that for three years
I never stopped warning each of you
night and day
with tears.
'distort the truth'
What does that look like I wonder....
What did Paul foresee?
Hmm...
'in order to draw away disciples after them'
that's a clue....
a little later in his talk he speaks of
not coveting silver or gold or clothing
and helping the weak and poor
reminding them of Jesus' words
'It is more blessed to give
than to receive.'
...complicated?
I have a hunch not....
Stay the course
Eyes on Jesus
not on men, leaders, self promoters
Be sensitive to the needs of those
God brings my way
knowing the HE is my source
and loves to be generous through me....
Not difficult
Not genius
but the warning is still
valid
Be on my guard.
Thank You Lord Jesus
for reminding me
it is easy to get off the track
to lose You as my reference point
Thank You for reminding me
to keep it
simple
Listen to You Daily in Your word
Keep my focus on You as my example
and
source
and walk forward
Knowing You are
Keeping me
Thank You.
