This morning I was reminded of
some words from Jesus...
but surprised where they came from....
Paul meeting with the leaders of the church in Ephesus the last time said,
Acts 20:35  "In everything I did, 
I showed you that by this kind of hard work 
we must help the weak, 
remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 
‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’"
Not sure how many times I have read this,
know it
Know Jesus said it....
but didn't realize that the Gospels don't record it!
It comes from Paul
and seems to be something that was 
common knowledge
as he reminds them of it....
I remember my mom telling me these words as a child....
They didn't make sense to me....
why would I prefer to 
Give something away....
when it was 
OBVIOUS
that it was better to
GET something!.....
Hmmm.... 
Not a child anymore
and have come to realize
that fulfillment in 
Acquiring
is 
very small....
compared to 
fulfillment that comes with
Supplying
what someone else needs...
or even wants
Interesting that Paul calls this giving
Hard Work
But
Good work
'Blessing back to me' work....
And Yet....
there is still in me that
Desire to be
fulfilled
with stuff....
for
ME.....
Lord,
Thank You for this reminder today
that
It IS better to give
than receive...
That this is foundational
to the ways of Your Kingdom
That You give out
to fill me up
as I pour out to others
.....Rivers of Living water
Your Spirit
in me....
to others...
Cool.
Yeah.
