Good day, dear Black Creek Church Family,
This week seems to have flown by. Lots of little details and extras seem to be part of the Christmas-time 'get ready' activities.
The music at the hanger changed on Tuesday this week. It was amazing to hear Christmas and worship music over the general hangar speakers.
Songs like, Mary Did You Know, Silent Night, God Rest You Merry Gentlemen, and others rang out for most of the day.
Like this fun rendition of God Rest You Merry Gentlemen.
Spending the day working and worshiping was different.
In fact, a number of times I stopped and wondered how this was affecting those around me.
Those with no or little faith experiences.
I felt surprisingly uncomfortable that worship of Jesus was being declared over speakers in a normally secular workspace.
This morning I read a Psalm of David and observed how he could unashamedly declare God's goodness to the leaders and people of the nations around him.
I realize that I am 'not there'..... I also realized that I do declare God's goodness and openly worship Him....
...On Sunday mornings.
A 'safe place' with other believers.
The revelation for me?.....
Sunday morning, among other things, is a safe place to 'train' to become a worshiper....
A place to be open and vulnerable.
So that even in an 'unsafe place' I might be able to focus on Him instead of those around me.....
Kinda like Sunday mornings....
Next Week Band of Brothers will be cancelled and will meet next on Friday, January 3rd.
Coming up: Plaid Sunday and pancake breakfast - Sunday, December 22nd at 9:00 am
Please take note of the end of the year giving instructions that Heidi has in the bulletin
Pray for those who are lonely or struggling with 'life stuff' this Christmas.
Try asking God who to invite into your circle for care during this celebration time.
Psalm 108 A SONG. A PSALM OF DAVID.
1 My heart is steadfast, O God!
I will sing and make melody with all my being!
2 Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn!
3 I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
4 For your steadfast love is great above the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!
Blessings over your Celebrations with family and friends this Christmas season,
Peter Jackson
