Good day, Black Creek Church Family,

This morning I woke up early.

One of the benefits of getting old(er)?

My uncle's memorial is tomorrow and I started thinking about him and my cousins.

We grew up on 2 adjacent farms.

Our dad's worked in a farming partnership for many years.

But those 2 brothers were actually very different.

Until I started thinking about it, I never realized how different their ways were.

My dad was a rule follower.  He was a perfectionist and a man who worked long hours.

My uncle was a lot more laid back and able to enjoy life and time with people around him.

Thinking about that, I realize that they even talked differently.  One slower, the other faster.  I bet you can guess who talked fast.

I loved both men.  Both significantly impacted their communities and circles of influence.

Both had a 'right and good' ways of looking at the world.

Both ways of living took them in fairly significantly different directions.

Including one major difference.....

My dad fell in love with Jesus.

and all of my siblings love Jesus,

and, as far as I know, my cousins have no relationship with our Lord...

and that's a very big difference.

Lost and Found - so much stuff appeared in the last few weeks.  Please pick up your lost belongings in the activity hall.

Lord, Thank you for these 2 men in my life.

Thank you for family and that you continue to connect me to my cousins and the circle I grew up in.   Bless them as they grieve and say 'goodbye to their dad... my uncle'.

Deuteronomy 6:5  You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart

and with all your soul and with all your might.

6  And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
7  You shall teach them diligently to your children,

and shall talk of them when you sit in your house,

and when you walk by the way,

and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Blessings as you ponder your own family's story.

Blessings as you pray into what holds you back, and moves you forward.

Blessings on you this week,

Peter Jackson
