As I read Philippians this morning
I was reminded of the journey of Paul
in Acts as he returned to Jerusalem
having been shown by God
that prison would be one of the outcomes....
The passage in Philippians
(written by Paul in prison)
Said that Paul knew that through
people's prayers for him
it would turn out for his
DELIVERANCE
or SALVATION.... Phil 1:19-21
and my immediate thought was
"Yes! He will get out of prison"......
Yeay! People pray,
God arranges Paul's release from prison....
Not.
So then...
what was the 'deliverance' Paul received
through their prayers?
It would seem from his letter
that
FEAR and SHAME were
pushing into his experience
He doesn't tell us why he was struggling with these things
he only tells those in Philipii
that their prayers had given him an
Expectation of deliverance from
shame
and that he would receive adequate
courage.
to face
Life (in prison)
or Death (and go to Jesus)
Hmm....
So what does 'Deliverance' look like
for me today....
Release from prison?
...all the problems I face.....?
or
adequate Courage
and no Shame....
And push into Life
or
Death.....
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for those who
pray for me
who lift me up to You
to receive
what I need
Today.
Yes.
Your deliverance
Your courage
Your esteem
