The condition of the release clause in the Contract with Satan that we signed through Adam's choice was a death (separation from God - Life).  Our death, or the death of one not in a contract with him.  

Jesus died.  In my place.  I am released from the contract with the devil.  He is no longer my master.   "for sin shall not be my master, because I am not under law, but under grace." Romans 6:14
