Friday, Feb 19th Update and request for nominations  
Today’s email will be just the basics as I’ve been setting up for our budget planning meeting with the elders. 
We will be starting three youth and children activities this coming week. Leaders will be contacting those involved. The updated BCCC Covid-19 Safety Plan (public access) and User Group Covid Plans (password required) will be on the website this weekend for your information.
Please pray that this would be well received by our community and safe for all involved.
Continue to pray for those who are ill or in difficult circumstances. 
Nominations: Need to be submitted by Sunday, February 21st.
As we do each year, we are requesting your feedback and recommendations for persons you believe would be good candidates for vacant Leadership positions.
The open positions are:
One - Elder
One - Sanctuary Decorator
One - Worship Leader Coordinator
The Bible gives us guidance on who to affirm to positions of leadership. Particularly those who are 'overseers', 'bishops' or we call them 'elders'
Please read the criteria below to refresh your memory of what scriptures teach for those who hold the elder position.
Please reply to the office with your recommendations for these leadership positions. You do not need to contact the person as we will be gathering your and the Elder's input before contacting any recommended person. reply to: office@blackcreekchurch.ca

Friday afternoon March 5th we may not be able to get documents to you.
- I will be sharing some of the information on my screen during the meeting (ie - Budget) but you will need to refer to the documents for reports etc.
- Voting and motions will be done by polls we have set up within Zoom. 
Outline of our discernment process in selecting Elders.
1. Read Biblical Texts on Elder/Overseer Qualifications:
I Timothy 3:1-7 Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to much wine, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgement as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.
Titus 1:5-9 The reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you. An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. Since an overseer is entrusted with God’s work, he must be blameless – not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to much wine, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
This morning I was reminded and encouraged that God will not forget you or me.
Isaiah 49:15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. 16 Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.
