Thinking about Judgment again today.
At the end of time Jesus will judge each person
for what they have done
or haven't...
I was thinking of how our society views the 'Judge'
and Judgment....
Advocates for the victim want maximum penalty
Advocates for the perpetrator want minimum...
if it is determined the person is 'guilty'
The judge calls the sentence
with latitude under the law for grace (less)
or not....... (more)
This morning I read 'the law' in Deuteronomy 5:6-21
and then I read Jesus' words in John 5
- He tells the religious leaders that they will be judged
on the basis of the words of Moses
The very words that speak of Jesus
These 'Words'
will accuse them on 'that day'.. vs 36-47
The words they studied
The words they took great pride in knowing
will actually be the words that will accuse and even condemn them...
Judgment....
It is starting to make sense to me that
while Jesus is the Judge
He actually is only declaring what
IS...
calling out the truth.
For All are condemned
All have broken the law
All are guilty... John 3:17-20
and only the ones who put their trust in Jesus' substitution for them are
saved....
Jesus, I see more clearly
How Judgment is actually already determined....
...that only those who choose You
get to change that trajectory.
You are not the 'Big Guy Upstairs'
Who makes and enforces 'the rules'
but the one who came to save from certain death....
O Thank You Lord
for taking my place.
For being
My Guilty....
Yes,
Thank You,
PJ
