son of... son of..... bla bla.... GOD. What?

This morning I was interested in
Genealogies!
What? You're kidding.....

Yeah.
Normally I just kinda 'cruise' through them
Bla bla bla... son of .... son of....

But this morning I was reading 1 Chron 1
It begins with the Genealogy of Abraham
starting with
Adam
Yesterday I read the Genealogy of Jesus
and it ends with Adam.... Son of...
GOD! ref Lk 3:23-38

I guess what struck me
is the society that I live in
where mankind is millions of years old
where there are thousands of generations
where the first man might be
neanderthal?
an ape?
frog?
protein in the ocean of slime....?

it struck me
that the Bible is very specific
it dosn't waver
it lists PEOPLE
and NAMES
a Start and Stop.

it doesn't just say Adam is the first man
and leave it at that
....some symbolic man
who is somewhere out there
around the beginning....
it lists each successive generation
and within it's pages
lists many of the events of each of those
generations....
- real people
- real events
- real timeline....

Hmmm....

Lord,
You continue to push against
my culture
my science
my understanding
to establish
truth
and
reality.

And I choose
to have faith in
You
and the
record....

Thank You for confirming
again
from the
beginning....
